Default streaming a PS3

has anyone else set up their ps3's so they can stream their music, video's, and pictures directly from their Computer? I have it set up for the most part, my computer and ps3 are linked, but whenever i go into my playlists on the ps3 menu, it says their are no songs?? To sum it up, the ps3 recognizes windows media 11, it recognizes the names of my playlists, but it doesnt display my songs, or video's or pictures either. i just get a messege that says "there are no tracks" any idea how to get the ps3 to recognize my tracks?

Start your PS3.

Open WMP11

Make sure your PS3 knows WM11 is on.

Click on Tools, then options.

Click on Library, then under "sharing" click on "Configure Sharing"

Anything that is linked to WMP11 should show and you just highlight what ever you want and click "allow".

My PS3 shows as "Unknown Device". My 360 actually says Xbox360.

Use Tversity, it's way better than WMP for streaming and converts all your videos to the right format at the same time. If you're interested shoot me a pm and i'll help you out with it.

hey rangerscott,

Ive already done what you suggested and my ps3 is recognized by WMP. but its not listing my tracks on the ps3 menu. On the ps3 it shows my playlist names/folders but whenever i try to open one, it says there are no tracks. ?? i've also set the settings options to where they need to be on WMP so thats not the problem either. Do the songs have to be in a certain format?? most are in MP3 format.. Also when i downloaded all my songs, they are saved in "my shared folder" would that have anything to do with it???

Try right clicking a folder that has music/vids/pics, on "sharing" tab and check "share this folder on network"

alright i gave that a shot and it still didnt work.. my pictures are coming up though, not sure why the music isnt??

I downloaded that tversity program that bradlb recommended, works great, i didnt even have to set anything up, it just did it all automatically. my videos, music and picture all come up perfectly. The only thing it didnt do is upload my playlists. it just has my thousands of songs in one group. Is there anyway i can transfer my playlists over, or is there a way i can create playlists on tversity ????

thanks guys

You can search through albums, artists, and genres it's easier than wading through thousands of songs.

Wait dude...are you trying to play playlists OR songs????

There's a big difference there bro. Point your media server to the folder that your SONGS are in, not your playlists.

Brad, I installed TVersity last night...seems like a decent app. I only had a few minutes to dick with it, but I'm gonna go play some more tonight and see what it can do.
