I finally realized why the storms are named after girls, At first its all sucking and blowing and at the end you have lost your house.

They should have named this storm hurricane Snooki as it seems like it is blowing everything on the east coast.

In all honesty, wish you folks involved the best and minimal damage.

insane, we're getting 35-50 mile an hour wind gust and the storm is not even close to us yet... i got a feeling im losing my car port today... i tied it down like a sailor would, but if we get a steady seventy mile an hour wind,,its all over... i already got a set of barrels from the neighbors..

here in boston@ 3pm... 45 mph sustainded wind and 70 mile an hour wind gust...with rain..

yeah it's getting a bit wild

Here's a VId Link to the Coast Guard rescue from the
replica HMS Bounty off Cape Hetteras this am

I was on this very ship in Newburyport MA last summer
she's down at Davy Jones Locker now - 2 crew still missing
14 rescued - dare say I met most of them

that was intense watching that, goes to show how well trained the coast gaurd is!!! the bucket guy was basically controlling the helicopter verbally.. he didnt miss a beat...and you know the winds out there are nothing like the winds on land.. thank god it was a day mission, imagine how much more difficult it would have been at night.. thats why when im with my 3 1/2 year old son and we bump into these guys in uniform i always tell him those are our real heros!!! those guys know, they can easily get into trouble quick..
good post "sprock" it will remind people that theres alot more going on out there, than just a couple trees falling down..

Just looking at the reports online from this idyllic, calm, sunny location in Hoi An, Vietnam, I see Hurricane Sandy is due to hit land about now.

Please stay safe all you guys in the storm's path on the East Coast!

Take care of yourself and your family.

Here's hoping it's not going to be as bad as they are reporting.

SB

PS: This is the first time I wished my bike was called 'Gentle Breeze' rather than Hurricane

So any of you Jersey folk feel like going out for a ride on the Parkway? Could make for some interesting GoPro footage.
