Anyways, there aren't any riders out there I really dislike. Stoner does throw the random hissy-fits, but if you consider how these guys have lived... I remember reading some interview with a team manager who said most of the riders literally had no lives starting from their teens and could probably be considered sociopathic. I just keep in mind that even the "substitute" riders they sometimes have that get lapped could probably lap me twice or thrice in a single race and have fun watching whoever it is duke it out. I can't help but root for the American riders, but seeing guys like Depuniet(sp) or Pedrosa get worked up is lots of fun, too.
GP was live on SPEED Yesterday morning like 7am CST. I just set my DVR and watched it in the afternoon. Then they showed the Moto2 class @ 5pm on tape delay. The 125's from LeMans are being aired on the 27th.

We also had AMA Supersport and Superbike action this weekend @ Infineon - both were on SPEED. Jake Holden got screwed due to the rain in race #2.

Finding TV listings for the WSBK round last weekend was hard, til it randomly came on SPEED again.

SPEED shows some crap shows, granted, and too much NASCAR coverage (and I'm actually a turn-left fan), but if they would just start showing WRC again, hell even @ 1am or something, I'd be happy.

So here's my question - why is GP the only big series Honda seems to be competitive in? Is it due to the rules and the fact that the RC212v is constantly being tweaked, and the rules allow them to basically run anything that conforms to the rules?

Are the AMA bikes for both divisions, and WSBK both a lot closer to production models, and it's simply a matter of the 600rr & 1Krr's base package just isn't where it needs to be right now?

I'm not sure why Honda is the bigger of the company. You have a few Ducati's and 1 or 2 Yamaha's. Ducati won't race in AMA anymore so I'm assuming they are focused on MotoGP. Rossi was racing on a brand new chassis this race and is getting a new motor put in. Hayden is getting the same treatment. Ducati is making alot of changes this season. I think Honda is just more fine tuned this year than anybody else.

the answer - honda is going all in to win an 800cc title before the class changes next year. they have 4 factory bikes (the 3 repsols and simoncelli's bike is a full factory bike with san carlo fairings). they are a big company and they can pool the resources for all of the R&D they want.

and the 1krr isn't the most competetive platform right now considering that its a few years old (which in racing is an eternity), so thats why you don't see so many privateer teams running them. and when you start racing, all of a sudden the aprillias and ducatis aren't so expensive anymore - they're usually cheaper for privateer guys.

not to mention, to launch a new platform for a production based class (like ama and WSBK), you need a new model - which takes a lot of effort (money and time wise).

Casey is a bloody legend fellas! When he had that mystery illness a few years back there was all kinds of stuff on the tele about the bloke. He is not your average rich kid whos parents bought him into a sport, the guy has real talent and one hell of a backbone IMHO.

Honda's probably gonna keep the 800cc with minor adjustments next year. They're already making nearly the same power as their old 990cc motor, and the bike is TONS faster in the corner. The low fuel limit will probably make it an open question of what motor size teams will run in 2012.

Le Mans was crazy yesterday, what an awesome race.

Regarding the CBR1K, yeah its old. It was never the best track bike of the 1Ks even when it came out. Still, I'm not sure there's a better 1K on the market for someone who rides them off the track. That's saying a lot considering how old it is and down on power it is. IIRC, it's only the Kawi that accelerates faster to 120 cause of the rear design and the light weight. Good bike.

Le Mans was definitely crazy. Just got done watching it and there were a few teeth-clenching moments. I feel bad for Pedrosa, I can't remember the last time he raced without at least one broken bone in his body.

As far as I can tell, the other manufacturers in MotoGP have some catching up to do... or maybe it's just the riders. Who knows. Looks to be a good year in MotoGP for the big H.

I wish I could find a reliable source for WSBK races, but they're really hard to track down and usually you don't find the both races. Unfortunately, I still live in the stone age so I don't have any of your fancy DVR or cable TV nonsense.

Streaming or download? I'm usually checking with familiar torrent trackers, but WSBK is still tough to come by.
