Default Stoked!

I am super stoked right now, I'm heading down to Boston tomorrow to pick up a full set of fairings in good condition, a windscreen, blinkers, a full set of gauges, and a tail light for my bike tomorrow.

What's better than getting a ton of new parts all in the same day?

GETTING THEM ALL FOR $75.00!

WOOHOO!

Just felt like sharing. But to make this thread worth something, feel free to share some awesome deals you've gotten, they don't need to be bike related. I'll post some more of mine up tomorrow!

^^Nice!

Well, an update on my previous "deal"

After driving 4 hours down through Boston to meet up with the guy, picking up the fairings, gauges and other things, it turns out...

Not only are the fairings horribly painted (I was going to repaint them anyways, but there's a lot of running and it's uneven so I would have needed to sand them a lot) but they also don't fit my bike. Like at all...plus he forgot to mention that the belly pan was split apart and the others were all cracked up too...but that's just the start of my woes.

The windscreen included was in terrible shape (I was told it had some sticker markings) but that's alright I guess, I was going to paint it anyways.

The gauges he told me were for the bike? Not. Even. Close. I don't have any idea what bike they're to, but the speedo isn't even mechanical like the F2! And they're pretty cut up, so I can't even resell them...)

The tail light was good, and the blinkers I haven't tested...but my hopes aren't too high.

So after paying $75, plus $75-$80 more in gas, and then another $25 for food (went with my brother), and $20 for tolls...

Looks like I ended up spending $195 for a tail light and blinkers that I'm not sure if they work.

Thanks a lot ***hole!

Call it a learning experience ! - been there done that more than once

So all my trips now have to have qualifying pics before I'll even
put the key in the ignition & cashola never leaves my wallet until
I say - yeah they are as per the description- Craigslist is a crap
shoot at the best of times - and usually get what you pay for.

BTW the guages are F3 - might be able to recover some $$ with them !

Yeah I hope so, but they seem to be a bit chopped up, so I don't think anybody would pay much of anything for them, oh well.

I've had much more good luck than bad, just a bummer now since I'm super tight on money.

If I had my license I would have taken my bike down and test fitted them, then picked them up another day...or had a friend come too and take them back in his car. But I don't so I couldn't.

My guess is they go to an F3, but I have no way to find out and...don't want to tell somebody they are F3 fairings when I try to sell them, only to find out they aren't. I can repair the scratches, and repaint...just not sure how to make them fit, oh well. Win some, lose some.

I would have told the dude to **** off and cut my losses. However I probably would have asked for pics before even going because if something sounds too good to be true....... just sayin

Well he sent me pictures before hand, but none of them showed the damage, and I couldn't tell they were textured.

He didn't send pics of the gauges though...but I was going to cut the loss on the gauges, I didn't really need them (already have 2 sets for my bike haha) I was really doing it just for the fairings, but I got screwed there.

Well I hear ya one and all - me if I don't see the whole deal from all angles and they
won't take extra pics of missing 'elements of the picture" that's a sure fire indication
something is being hidden an not disclosed.

Within a half hour radius of my place I'll take the chance and go check it out of it's a
killer deal - anything further if not fully disclosed - forget it

CL is full of time wasters and scam artists- one other thing know the neighborhood
you are traveling into ! and always try to bring a "helping hand" just in case.
