Default Speaking Of Accidents

Hey all sorry I havent been hitting up this site in a while. Well anyway I just want to feel you guys in on a little accident that iI just recently had. I am now out of the hopital telling you this right now sitting here with my son who keeps poking me. So I was heading up a busy freeway and it was jammed pack and was going to a meeting, when I looked back everyone was so close and tight together and so then I looked up forward again and saw that there was this big gap in front of me and so I wanted to catch up to my buddy who was probably and eighth of a mile ahead of me, so I just gave more than a little throttle and UP the bike went, the bike was up on one instantly and was hitting maybe 60mph, not really too sure. So the bike went up real fast and it was at 12 oclock and I was already starting to slide off and I couldnt hold the throttle steady, so the bike flipped and down I went hitting the left side of my body on the pavement real hard at about 60 mph I also flipped and slid and when sliding on the ground I saw my bike sliding to, but towards me and hit me slightly. This was my most scarest event in my life, maybe there was a reason for this, but then again I thank GOD Im still alive I hit it pretty hard, I was in the hospital for 17 days, had 2 surgeries on my pelvic area, this is called a complex pelvic fracture. I have never been to the hospital in my life for anything but this one, this is my first and hope this is my last. I didnt want to go in depth on this accident and also I didnt want to remeber this, but really cant because I will always have a bunch of plates and 17 screws on this left hip of mine. I have pics of x-rays but dont know how to resize. Well as of now Im glad to be home seeing my kids still playing around, boy being in the hospital is no fun at all. Im recovering now but slowly I walk with a walker ( w/no tennis ***** ok guys lol) and hope to walk normal in 2 months. Doc says I will be 100% in a year or two, well atlest im still here. I am also debating whether I will ride again or not, this was the most scariest accident in my life. Well I have been distracted with writing this story because both my kids are playing around me, well thank you all for your time to read this. Becareful guys dont underestimate your ride.

Whoa, glad you're out of the hospital now. Also glad you will make a full recovery. Was the damage to your hip from landing on it or did you tumble afterwards?

glad to hear you're ok man, that seems to happen to a lot of people (the way you went down).

on the topic of accidents, a kid i knew was in one about a week ago but wasn't quite as lucky. He was amidst a wheelie on a local road when a car pulled out in front of him from the other side of the road to enter another street. He hit the car as the wheel was coming down. We're told he was killed instantly before he hit the ground, but he was thrown in the air leaving behind body parts from the impact of the car and finally landed. A couple kids were riding with him and said it was the worst thing they have ever seen in their lives and will never forget it. Its crazy to think you could be hanging around with a few buddies on your bike talkin one day with the rest of your lives ahead of you....then in the blink of the eye its over and you never see that person again. Just be careful, i never was afraid of going down really but recently it's had me shook up

Yeah, I can see how having an accident like that would make you consider if you should ride again. Anytime I do something stupid I think about my wife and kids and how hard it would be for them if the results of my stupidity turned out badly -- and my kids are all almost grown and on their own.

Anyway. Don't make any snap decisions. Sounds like you have a bit of recovery time in front of you. Don't make your decision too quickly while the accident is still so fresh. Give it time.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Sorry to hear but kinda good that you are learning from it.

You should get a smaller bike. Not to be a dick but I dunno if you can power wheelie a 6 up (unmodded anyway).

Then again where I'm at all I do is twisties all day long, so no real point for a litter bike inless I'm really crazy bout passen cars.

I am SOOOO sorry to hear about your accident. It's heartening how you talk about your kids.. It seems you really cherish them. I am sure they are great kids and don't really understand what happened to you. I do know that they are glad you are OK.

Hopefully you'll get back on a bike and learn from what happened to you.

Take care and get well!!!!
