yeah i forgot about people calling soda pop COKE. Although down south coca-cola is supposed to be the major drink so i quess it makes sense. I don't think pepsi is near as big of hit as coca-cola down there.

RE: Soda Or Pop
until I was around 12 years old I thought they only used the word "pop" back in the 50's lol
Around that time I did some traveling and heard a few people say it and all I could think was "wtf!?!"
it just sounds so outdated to me
around here (mississippi) we generaly use "coke" to describe Coca-Cola and some may use it for Pepsi as well, in restaurants its a crap shoot what they have so "coke" is the most generic term to use effectively. Everything else we say its actual name (Sprite, Dr. Pepper, etc...)
very rarely do you come across somebody that says "soda" or "pop"
I live in a town with a large Naval Air Station, so there are quite a few people around here from other parts of the country (fairly small town btw). It takes some of those guys a while to figure out you just don't say the word "pop" in Mississippi.
seriously though, "pop"? I guess thats what you hip cats up in the north call it? thats so righteous daddy-o...groovy man...
lol
