i almost got one but the guy lied about it being down so i ended up with the 1000, if your close to me i got a 1000 going up for sale in the spring. and dont rule out the 929 either, i see some good deals on those, and with a PC your up with the 954, not to mention it is a pretty well balanced bike. from what i hear it not quite as twitchy as the 954, yet i didnt really get on it on the 954 so i cant say...

i would wait till spring to sell to get the most cash possible, but im not admitting to agreeing with your wife over your decision haha

When your first message says the above it implies that you are getting out of the bike riding business entirely but that you might still stop by now and then to say hi. Besides, you'll need a bike to be able to carry out your leg of the Coast-to-Coast sprocket challenge when it gets closer to you.

Frustration -- thy name is woman ... and when not woman it is motorcycle ...
Hahaha so true Gregg

Guess I watch too much **** ... but I thought that was funny and laughed heartily when I read "load". A single letter can change something sad into something funny.

Anyways, sorry dude ... save as many pennies as you can and you'll get there eventually. Until then ... patch up the old beast and carry on.

I agree with jpan and some others sell it and go fuel injected when the time is right.

Bikes are pretty dependable now a days. Usually they become unreliable when guys start hacking them up and modifying them. At that point the parts begin to not fit as a unit any more. The other thing that causes problems is the work being done on them is not done right. I ride mine a lot and never work on it other than oil changes and putting gas in it.

Everything that's been done to my bike has been done right. Its not that it needs the work bought it wrecked fixed it up and keep getting new ideas. If I had a new mint condition bike I would have no reason to do any thing to it.
