I grieve with you.
Remember all the things he taught you, and the good times.
As you grow older, as I am, you will realise that death is increasingly a part of life.
I lost both my parents between 99 and 04, I miss them still, but it gets easier.
The best tribute to your uncle would be to instill in Little Gunny the values
and skills your uncle passed on to you.
The pupil now becomes the teacher..............
May the good Lord grant you, and yours, the serenity of peace, and the joy in having known him.

My heartfelt condolences. Sorry to hear about your uncle HC. Better to focus on the life lived as you are doing.

I am standing upon that foreshore.
A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength and I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white clouds just where the sea and sky come down to mingle with each other.
Then someone at my side says, "There! She's gone!"
"Gone where?"
"Gone from my sight, that's all". She is just as large in mast and spar and hull as ever she was when she left my side; just as able to bear her load of living freight to the place of her destination. Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at that moment when someone at my side says, "There! She's gone!" there are other eyes watching her coming and other voices ready to take up the glad shout, "Here she comes!" And that is dying.
- Victor Hugo
one of my favorite books of his is Le Dernier Jour d'un Condamné (The Last Day of a Condemned Man) some consider him very liberal. I don't walk away with the impression more a man battling the system in place at the time than anything else and thank you KB for the kind words

Pete, thank you for the phone call this morning, speaking to you was pleasure and you having the ability to make me laugh was a welcome relief. My home is always open to you, God bless you Pete

Sorry to hear about your loss... its never an easy thing to deal with. My condolences to you; I hope you have a merry Christmas.

And remember, its okay to feel sad; its part of the mourning process... nobody, and I mean nobody will think any less of you because of it... dont worry about trying to hide it; your family (including us ) will comfort you, and I promise itll help, even if only a little. And remember all the good times you had with him... you have so many good memories of him, those memories can never be taken away.

Again, have a merry Christmas HC.
