Rip off?
so i dropped my bike off at a shop yesterday to get a new rear tire put on. The guy just called and quoted me at $280 for the tire and installation. That seems a little pricey to me since another shop i talked to said theyd charge $60 for installation if i brought a tire in and $10 if i bought it from them. So i was assuming it wouldnt cost more than 200 to get the tire changed. Anyone whos done this before what have you paid?
The local shop around here charges $50 to take it off the bike and change or $20 to walk in with rim already off the bike. The rest would be the price of the tire depending on what you pick.
Yeah $280 does seem like a rip off. You could buy a Pilot Power off Motorcycle-superstore.com for $140. Then about $50 or so for installation you should be at $190 maybe $200 not $280.
Last time I swapped tires I think I paid around 200 something for front / rear and installation. No more than 300 for sure.
This was on Isabelle though. Got some Continental something or others. Mid range tire.

Because he had to order the tire and he said i could drop the bike off and hed call me with a quote before he did anything. I can go pick the bike up right now if i want to its not gonna cost me anything until he touches the bike.
haha nope it was just the rear, not including tax, $310 if i wanted it done over the weekend. Im up at school so i think im just gonna trailer it home and take it to a local shop by me. They quoted me at $200 plus tax for a pirelli and $230 for the dunlop. It did storm pretty bad last night though and my bike would have been stuck outside if i didnt bring it to there so i still got something out of the deal, its a win/win.
