Default Riding techniques section?

We are considering a recent request to start a section/sticky/thread on "riding pointers for new riders" and/or general "riding techniques". Are these topics you guys (and gals)think would be useful? Again, we are still in the decision making process, but as always, your input is very important. What do you think?

Maybe there should be a 'general riding' section. Right now it seems that general riding discussions get broken out by model. If you ride a 600RR, you'll put your riding questions there, even though what you're talking about isn't model-specific, and might be interesting to someone with a 929 for example. To me, off-topic should be non-riding subjects like work, relationships, sports, whatever.

I don't think its needed. Like munson said right now people usually ask a question in their bike's forum. I think this is the best way, because you get a lot of advice from people on the same bike. Plus a lot of us look through most of the forum anyway Then there is the trackday section, and a road racing section.

Hard to gauge the "proper" way of doing things. So many people may have their own riding habits and think that its the best route...but you are bound to have someone that will give invalid information. People will look to this section as the end all be all of techniques. Would having such a section open you up to be liable in case someone follows unsafe habits? Might need a might strong disclaimer.

More specifically what we had in mind was a locked section, so random ideas can't be posted. If someone has some good info, you can pm the mods/admins and wemake a decision on it (mostly to keep the section on topic and free from clutter).

I'm going to have to say that putting in section for newbies for safety/riding information would be a great idea. It's not the masses you really think about with this section. We should be thinking about the one, two, or twenty responsible people who come here, new, and receive some quality advice on riding with in the limits and not starting on a 1000CC like all their friends may have done. What's a life worth? I say good idea.

If you really wanted to learn about riding technique, couldn't you buy one of the many books?
