Riding Shoes?
I hope that "H" word wasn't directed at me!
My jacket, helmet and gloves definitely scream "Sports Bike". But I have a social life too. Full race gear is not approriate (and in some cases, not allowed) in some places. Anyone who know's Philly knows sometimes in Olde City or Manayunk you gotta leave the rider behind

bah, I decided I'm going with neither the shift or the alpinestars. None of those power ranger or Harley boots either
. I'm actually really starting to like the Oxtar Adrenaline riding shoes

I'm normally more of a black or white guy but I even like these in red.

I ended up going with a Thor 1/2 boot. Its a motocross boot, but they have served me very well. They are really comfortable and dont look bad with jeans. They also offer a decent amount of protection, and are re-enforced along the toes and ankles. Ive actually got alot of compliments on them lol.

I agree. I went with something that looked non bootish, but still offer protection.
I don't want to say that "riding" shoes, as seen in the pic above, are worthless...as they are better than flip-flops...BUT...as far as real world riding protection goes, they are worthless. You want a boot that at least extends over your ankle for protection. Your ankle scraping across the pavement will cause major damage, if you go down.
For track & twisty/canyon rides, I wear Sidi Vertigos.
For daily use I wear a version of the AlpineStars riding boots already mentioned (& pictured) in this thread. They are comfortable & durable, & w/ jeans over the top of them, they just look like regular boots. They are easy to put on/take off, so I can change from them easily. I've had the same pair for about 2.5 yrs, & put them thru the paces. They've held up well. They were about $120 from CycleGear (back then).
At the very least, I'll wear a Bramha/Wolverine type work boot. They are extremely comfortable, have great grippy soles, & look as good as anything else. Best of all, they are inexpensive & provide over-the-ankle-protection.

Any boot w/ ankle protection is better than no boot at all.
