Reminds me of boot camp...
So I went to some local bar tonight....long story short, night was going as one would expect, people drinkin having a good time. Well, just at closing time, a comotion (is that how you spell that? I'm too buzzed and lazy to look it up right now) breaks out in the corner by the exit. HUGE brawl breaks out, fists flying, bottles being smashed, women getting flinged...the works. This goes on a good 15 minutes before the cops arrived. I was just standing there watchin it all unfold with my pool cue in my hand, and I can't explain why, but my heart rate never even went up a bit while this brawl was unfolding...like it was happening on TV or something. Anyway, po-po's show up....3 of em come in the bar. Fight continues while cops try to break it up....next thing I know somebody is getting tasered in the exit, and then a familiar scent hits my nose. THE GAS CHAMBER. The cops must have pepper sprayed somebody, but the scent and subsequent effect fills the air, and people are hacking left and right, all teary eyed and what not. Me and 2 other dudes are the only ones not hacking or crying, and I'm like "military, right?" Both of 'em are like "yeah, twice a year." For those who are unfamiliar with what I'm referring to, the military requires chemical warfare training in which members must step into a gas chamber with their chem suits on. Once in the chamber, you must take your mask off and inhale the gas.....You never get used to it, but as demonstrated tonight, you do become more tolerant of it. Anyway, after all the drama ends inside, I step outside and there are about 8 cop cars there. People are being escorted in cuffs left and right. The chick that I was meeting up there ends up giving me a ride home, and we had a nice drunken bang on the couch. And I lived happily ever after.

Thanks for the flash backs shoortbuss, I too played in the gas chamber often. Part of my rate so I did it many times over just in my A school. I developed the habit of using vaseline lip care crap. The gas hits home on wet areas (eyes, nose mouth) so... I learned to keep my eyes shut as much as they would allow, never open my mouth except to scream out what ever they told me I had to say and only breath through my nose, which was coated in vaseline. You walk out with a slight hack and teary eyes.
I guess that's where the motto of my rate comes in, if not cheating, you're not trying. (damage control)

Ahhhh... but you didn't catch me
I'm was a little more careful with my tricks. After you do it day in and day out for a week... two to three times a day... it gets old. I was a class leader in my school, so you know what that means, I get the special treatment.

RE: Reminds me of boot camp...
I did just under 8 years due to a paper screw up... can you believe that? The Navy messed up on personnel records?
I made E-5 at my 3 year mark and by the 4th year, I knew I was college bound and never took another exam. I had a broken foot that I walked on for a year before they ruled it was a problem (me too, didn't think it was that bad) so I was LLD for damn near 6 months while I looked for my shore duty station. I don't know about the Marines, but it's hard to change stations when you're broke. I was only going to extend for 2 years so I could go to school and move on (hanging it up was based on wanting a family life). Talked to a career counselor so I could extend and found out my eaos was three years away. WTF? Did my boot camp and schools that took 6 months, 4 years on my boat and was told I had 3 more years? I asked what does it show for my enlistment term and he replied 4 years. No signs of a re-enlistment either. He still looked at me like, "what don't you understand"? Guess they don't teach us Navy boys to count. So I just asked... my pay doesn't stop til when? He gave me the date and I said, I guess I don't need you then. Sorry to waste your time and left. Gave me an extra year of shore duty to go to school.
