Default Reality set in (wear your helmets)

This actually happened to me Friday as I was waiting for the elevator up at my apartment building. I just got home from work and had my helmet in my hand along with my leather jacket and tank bag. Guy comes through the hall to my left in a wheelchair and says hi. Also tells me he's glad to see I wear a helmet. I told him that I wished to be as safe as possible. He went on to tell me how he is in a wheelchair because he wasn't wearing a helmet when riding and crashed. Was in a coma for 2 months and in the hospital for another 8. I thanked him for speaking up and saying something and wished him a good weekend.

This was a reminder to me in the biggest way. Eveyone be safe out there and protect yourself.

He wasn't wearing a helmet and ended up ina wheelchair? That sucks, but I guess it's better than what could have happened. Just remember kids, chicks dig guys on bikes, not wheelchairs. So wear your helmet.

I don't quite understand, why is it that we need to keep telling people???? I mean we see what happens all the time...if you need to be reminded to wear a helmet maybe you should not be riding.. I mean just stand up in your house go to the center of the room and let your body fall back. bet it will hurt. so if something that little hurts so much imagine doing the same this at driving speeds.... its not like any of us guys that wear gear have known some big secret. we just don't dig pain all that much.

Even the big guys on bikes get the girls. Since my bike only holds xx pounds and I already take most of that capacity up, I get to hold out for the non fat chick. LOL.
