The random function on my phone (and any mp3 player I've ever had) p*sses me off.

I have nearly 1200 songs on my phone which I use as an mp3 player while I work. In order to avoid hearing them in alphabetical order I use the random function. Why does it always seem like I hear the same few hundred songs over and over again!?!?!?!

 

When i use shuffle i feel like it knows every song that you absolutely dont want to hear at all at the moment then only plays those ones.

 

the sorting algorithms your phone uses are almost completely random but people like to think that their mp3 player, phone or radio favors a specific band. In reality like I said it is completely random because it is (most of the time) based of the system clock and date therefore never having the same algorithms. Most of the time it is just people seem to notice one band more then some of the others so in their mind those songs stick out more. also if you have more songs of one band it is more likely to land on a song by them.

Ummm...You loaded all the music on the phone right? Why would you put stuff on there that you don't like?

It's not that I don't like them. I like variety and I don't want to hear the same song 3 times in an 8 hour work day when I have almost 1200 available.
