quick questions about squid wear !
so i live in hot a$$ az, its not so hot just yet. but it will be here soon. i was woundering i have a mesh jacket but it is still pretty warm with it on . my questions is i was thinking about getting some body armor like a back protector. or something like that and i pretty muck wear long sleaves when ridding. now instead of wearing the jacket and just wearing the body armor with long sleaves would that be ok or is that to squidly ? the only reason i am asking to be honest i never really had a bike during the summer (it seems to be when thepast bikes take and expensive dump) and igot this one last july and spent most of that summer in nm with the wifes familywithout the bike.
It's better to sweat than bleed. Anything other than leather will pretty much shred (with the exception of some of the textile jackets and pants - they're usually pretty tough). Jeans, sweatshirts, long sleeve T shirts all shred.
Armor's only good for impacts, so no point in wearing a back protector by itself. Throw it on under a jacket.

my riding instructor had a shirt for motorcycles he swore by i fogot what it was called though something with hide in it like tuff-hide or something. i tryed to google it but couldnt find any thing you might want to look into that.
I ride in Leather Jacket, full helmet, always pants and shoes/boots everytime I ride. Thats just me though. I would atleast stick witha mesh jacket, but thats just me.
My fieldsheer jacket vents really well, the only time I really notice the heat is when I'm stuck at a light for any amount of time. I'll open every vent, and leave the cuffs loose so air can get in, maybe the collar open a tad, and that was in TX in the summer time, but honestly anything other than shorts and a t-shirt in that kind of weather is gonna be hot. Obviously te latter isn't an option, so it's not THAT much more than youd get anyways, plus your protected. Thats just me though.

i didnt wear my jacket last summer when i would commute, but when i was goin out to ride id usually wear it, always wore my gloves tho, its a decision you gotta make, this summer, im geared up, if its too hot to wear gear, im just not gonna ride till the sun goes down, my mesh jacket has a big hole in it to remind me that sliding is no fun, and i hit grave and bounced, had i slid across pavement i have no doubt it woulda eaten thru the jacket in a heartbeat. AZ is hot but that pavement is hotter, and more cheese graderish.
If it's 100 degrees at a stop light, your brain bucket could be at 110 degrees. Heat-related illness, on a motorcycle, can ruin your day. Headache, dehydration, dizziness, lethargy and cramps are some symptoms. Heat stroke can kill you. Try a wet cotton T-shirt,under armor.
My main reason for purchasing an Arai helmet was the vents. My next moto-related purchase is to be a "RideCool Sport Vest" (Deluxe, w/sleeves) and a beanie. Idea being that one soaks the garments in water every couple of hours.
$74.95 from www.RideCool.com or phone800-706-4910. 3400 Anderson Co. Rd.370 Palestine, Tx.75801

I would just say wear a jacket!! Wear pants!! Wear boots!! Wear the head gear!! What I do next is just what I do, IDK who else does it, but I always have a backpack with a water bottle in it. Not a huge one that weighs things down, but just enough so when I get real hot I can drink some and move on. Seems to work in down town Atlanta weather.
ok, i'll say it again for you... It is a privilege to ride. Always be ready to go down every time you ride. It may be nice to just wear a tshirt, but it feels alot better than getting gravel scraped out of your open wounds at the hospital....my .02
