As long as your connections are made in the box you can add wire to the original light fixture. Use indoor romex same gauge as existing and run the new wire to the track lighting your going to use (not knowing what style of track lighting cant tell how the connection is made in a box or into track fixture itself) and just buy some casing to cover up your romex and you should be good to go.

Um.... yeah.... why aren't you using a brighter light bulb or plugging in an extra lamp or something? Seems like a lot of work for something that is so easily solved.

I am using a Halogen bulb. Still not bright enough.

What are you growing? JK Do you have an attic in this room? If so you will have to go up there find the wire to your existing light and using a junctionbox cut the wire ( after breaker has been turned off ) wire nut romex of the same guage and run it to where ever you want then you can hook up your track lighting.
