Ok, some of you may have seen my 1krr up on jack stands a few days ago. Well, I was about to go ahead and order a Pit-Bull rear stand, but just couldn't do it! $140.00 for some bent tubing and powdercoating? AHHHHHHHHH !!! I know their are some cheaper ones out their but the tubing looked so flimsy that I was worried they would bend or break.I just KNEW I could make one! Soooo I tossed and turned for a few nights with the wife asking everymorning if I was going to order the stand yet. Then I was walking around Home depot looking at stand making supplies and pieced one together! for $36.00 I got an UGLY but very functional stand. And cause I know It's coming, It will not unthread, that biatch is so tight I almost squeezed some fudge!

You may want to make it so the bike's lower though, stands lift the rear tire off the ground about 2" tops. Just a thought.

With a nice coat of paint, no one would even give it a second thought. I think that's a great idea! I agree with you about the stands. A few bends from a piece of tube steel for $140 bucks is outrageous.

I'm with dwhite645 though, I would cut it down so the tire isn't so far off the ground.

You should do a write-up of this and share the knowledge so other cheap bastards like me could build one of our own.

Lower it a little bit, add some paint (or powdercoat if you're so inclined) add a grip to the handle and you should have a pretty sweet setup there.

 

Thanks for the complements guys! I do wish I could lower it a little but the way the cross bar is, it hit's the rear tire befor the spools when your trying to get everything lined up. I do need to get a little longer of a handel thogh! Haha. Anyway, I'll post a how to with sweet microsoft paint drawings in a few days.
