Default Pulled over 117mph & the cop says...

Hey guys, so yeah.... Out riding yesterday here in south florida and i get pulled over. The cop says i caught you doing 117mph, but when he gives me the ticket he says im gonna give you a break since you were respectful and didn't take off. and only put down 84mph. But he tells me, if you fight this and i see it goes to court, im raising it back to 117. WTF? can he do that? I was gonna take it to a "ticket clinic" as they are called here. Its basically lawyers that fight for you and usually get the case dropped. It cost $80 and they guarantee NO SCHOOL or points. The ticket i got was 2 points, school and $225.
But my fear is what he said. That he will raise it back up to 117, which is a higher fine + 4 points Plus School.
Any Advice???

Dont do 117mph down a public road? but wheres the fun in that. I dont believe he can raise it back up, once he has it written down thats it, if he was to raise it then it would be falsifying a ticket and it would get dropped and he would get in trouble.

So you admit you were doing 117? Is this correct?

Not to sound ungrateful, but is that a fact or an opinion. Just want to make sure i don't make it worse for myself.

So let me get this straight, you were doing 117 on a public road & get caught. The officer gives you a break by putting 84 on the ticket - instead of citing & arresting you for Reckless Riding/Driving & seizing your bike, & you want to give him grief?

You just got an incredible break. Say "Thank you" and pay the fine. Then in the future watch how far you drop your right wrist.

Really? How am i giving him grief? Like i said in the original post, i was very respectful, and i thanked him for the break he gave me.
But, i have the right to ask if he can do that or not. And if you were in my shoes and had the option to pay the $225 ticket, get 2 points on license, & subsequently your insurance goes up, or give it to a lawyer and pay just $80 no points, no school. You wouldn't take it???

You'll be 'giving grief' by fighting the citation...a citation by which the LEO was extremely generous by cutting you slack for you to have the ability to ride away & keep your license.

You want legal advice? Talk to a lawyer.

You've received sufficient reply in this thread & know your responsibilities.

Riding at track speeds on the street is illegal & you were caught. This forum doesn't endorse illegal activity.
