Default Possible career change in a couple years.

When I was younger I always thought about becoming a Police Officer. My uncle was metro in Vegas when I was living there. He would tell me all these stories that just fascinated me.
So its been in my mind lately.
Well after the new years I get to go on a ride along with Seattle PD. Its going to be set up by a Ofiicer in SPD that my girlfriend and I know. Im really nervous and excited.
Also my Uncle moved up from Vegas and is a Officer down south from where I live. So I have two ins because of them.
My only worries are leaving my current job (If I dont get laid off first) that I get paid well in and enjoy. For something that I may not like. Or pay as much.
I dont know. I guess Ill have a better idea after the ride along.

CBRCRF, hopefully everything will go smooth for you and you'll make what you need to live comfortably..............but just remember its not ALWAYS about the $. aslong as you're getting by, sometimes its more important that you enjoy what you do. sounds like you're on the path to a job that will make you happy though (even if you're leaving one that already does). sometimes you've just gotta take the leap and see what happens. best of luck to ya.

i suggest you do alot of research before you make a decision. it much more social work then any thing else. ill be finishing up a degree in Criminal justice this fall and then im gona go for political science. after spending as long in school (i work full time and am a part time student) i have realised this isnt the carear path i want to take my self. after i graduate im gona purse a carear in NYS parks and recreation as a patrol officer and then i want to move over to DEC Enforcement(deparment of enviormental conservation).
