Just picked up this pretty girl tonight It was kind of a last minute puppy rescue thing that just came about last night.... the story behind this dog: another guy on our local bike forum, it belonged to somebody down the street from him, a house full of illegals. This dog has been tied up to the bumper of a van for at least the past 3 weeks (as reported by another neighbor), without food or water, and with a collar that was so tight it was damn near choking her [:@][:@] It just makes my blood boil seeing the way people will treat animals.... unbelievable. They have been calling animal control multiple times over the last couple weeks and they did nothing. So last night she somehow managed to escape from the van, and ended up at my buddies house while he was outside working on his car. He wasn't able to keep her since he already had 3 dogs which did not take well to another, but he said there was no way in hell he was giving her back to the negligent owners. And that's how I ended up with her. She is the absolute sweeeeeeeeetest thing in the world, and is most definitely NOT shy. Soon as I walked up and met her she was all over me with the tongue, lol (she even got me straight in the mouth one of the times, hahah). She's estimated to be about 6 months old right now, but looking at the size of the paws I'll bet she's gonna get alot bigger!

Anyways... I'll post more later as it's 3:21 am and I'm literally falling asleep typing this. A buddy from work and I had to drive all the way over to downtown Atlanta after we got off work to go pick her up, and just got home about 2 hrs ago. But it was worth it... she's a damn good pup

Sounds like a similar story with my pup Dakota when I rescued her. She was going to be put down the next day due to no one adopting her. My pup was an abused puppy, also from suspected illegals. She was kicked, hit, smacked, starved and then put out as a stray. The shelter found her and was cleaned up and put up for adoption. I fell in love with her the moment I first saw her. She was the only one not going absolutely crazy in the kennels. Her eyes said it all. She sat in the middle of the kennel, with an almost shameful look in her eyes like it was her fault. I just stood there staring at her as one of the shelter workers told me about the pups horrible past. I could help myself and a few tears ran down my cheek as I got down onto my knees to call her over. She stayed low and cautions, but couldn't help wagging her tail as she approached. She pushed right up against my leg and just wanted to be pet. That's it. No licking, biting, going crazy, running away, nothing. She just sat there and wanted to be loved.....that's all. Even thinking about it now brings a tear to my eye, and rage against those who did those cruel things to her. I've never encountered such a sweet and mellow pup like this before.

I commend you on rescuing that beautiful pup.........and absolute adorable mutt. I just wish we could teach our dogs to ride on our bikes, then we would be able to take them everywhere we went.
