XP uses all 4gigs. It just doesnt show it.

I fried my 680i's ram power. I hit 3.8GHz on my q6600 and guess the o' voltage regs for the ram slots got a little hot. A lot of people said they hated that board but I got some good scores on 3dmark06. But its what it does in games that counts.

3.8 is all? lol i cant remember my highest but i run my e6600 at 3.8 constantly and memory is bumped way up too, cant remember what to(could restart and check but im lazy) but i have burnt out five of these boards because of the ram slots and the memory controller or some bs, but thats what lifetime warranties are for My system is water cooled so i like to push limits. Have not for a while though because i spent all the $$$ on the bike. Maybe this winter ill upgrade the comp some. Still running the 7950 in it, runs BF2 at 99 fps on highest settings so i have not really seen a need to upgrade cpu or video card.... yet.

Its impossible for a 32bit system to use more than near 4GB of memory. And by impossible I mean physically impossible. Its like counting to 11 on all your fingers. You just can't do it.

well duh, we all know that nauree...sheesh! and to make that a little more correct, 4GB of system memory....you can still have additional video memory.
Dude no you can't. I was including video memory. The OS has to address those slots and only has room for 4GB for all memory.

are you positive? because i used to think so too until i saw something somewhere that made me think otherwise. i still wont bet my life on it.

ok, i just looked it up.....and at least according to this site, youre correct. total addressable memory is 4gb for any and everything under the hood unless PAE extensions are being used with the proc. i stand corrected.

Just stating what M$ says. They say it doesnt physically show up on screen but windows knows its there and uses it. "YOU" might not be able to use it, but windows does.

I'm air but it was fine till the mem voltage fried. I'm sure I could have kept it there as long as I wanted.
