I was a PC guy my whole life until about 2 years ago, I bought a Mac Mini G4. I just recently upgraded to a new iMac 20", and I'm never going back to Windows. Vista is garbage. The best upgrade anyone could ever do is "upgrade" back to Windows XP.
........But then again, I'm militant in my love for Apple products.

it really matters what you are going to use it for because when you need alot of memory like photoshop or video editing or any of that stuff macs take the cake **** they take the whole bakery. but to be a simple household processing unit i would go with a PC because of its ease of use with basically any software. oh well just my two cents.

why would you want to use a pc/mac for a gaming machine!-given what is available???

Cause nothing can out beat a PC. You want the greatest graphics.........PC. You want to play with a controller.............PC. You want to play online............PC. You want to be able to fix a problem with a game...........PC. You want to play a FPS with a keyboad/mouse the way they're suppose to be.........PC. You want to be able to play a game without lag (yes consoles do lag)............PC. You want to mod a game..........PC.
Ya, there are more games for consoles cause thats were all the attention goes cuase they are gaming rigs. It would be weird if games weren't being made for them. But PC's will always be the greatest gaming machines.
