Paint time

that being said i plan on spray painting my 1000rr tail and rear cowl with black dupi color...
but i will be putting a very good amount of time for proper prep/tape off.... couple good layers of primer, a adhesion promoter, dupicolor gloss black, and clear

I did several coats of base, then wetsanded the base after it had cured for a day or 3. then I did several coats of the clear, then gave it a day or 2 to dry, then wetsanded til it was smooth.
I'm pleased with the results, but once I finished painting my right upper and lower fairings, the center tail, the center upper, fusebox cover, and the vent in the lower, I went through several cans of the purple, and 2 cans of yellow, and about 4-5 cans of clear. 2-3 cans of each primer.
I know now that it would have been better to go with a gun and my compressor, since I was painting in small batches anyway.
My understanding also was that the paint would have gone on slicker too, negating a lot of the orange peel that I had to wetsand out so much.

So my best bet would be to get a cheap gun. I have a compressor. And to whoever said it, 2 cans primer, 2 cans color, and 1 can clear. Sounds good. I'm starting sanding tomorrow. Should be interesting.
