I was looking at something like that for my fiancee to learn on, but I think i would rather have something you can get parts for. JMO though. I mean, if its close to you and you can pick it up, that'd be a good deal. But, if you have to pay for shipping, I would pick up a Kawi 250 for around the same price.

I have looked around and theres nothing close to me (within 200 miles) that i like we have a kawaski dealer here but I dont want to spend 3000. on a 250 i would rather save as much money so when im READY i can get the 600.

Quality is really my only issue. Under $1K so far not bad but.............. it's all about the quality.

I bought a 92 GS500 for $500, good reliable bike and parts are easy to find
looks like crap but runs great despite not being take care of very well by the previous owners
didn't really need it but for $500 how could I say no? lol

I've taught a couple people how to ride on it with great success

the good thing is that a 92 500 is not going to depreciate anymore in value any time soon, so you can easily get every penny back when your done with it

+1 ... even if that means driving some distance to get one. I'm in the "250 best 1st bike" fan camp but this one's pushing it a bit. The Ninja barely cuts it when it comes to highways but at least it's capable since it's around 105 top speed. This one states 75mph top speed and IMO at wot on urban hwys i wouldn't feel comfortable having no reserve to maneuver out of a jamb if necessar ... unless you don't plan on any hwy riding but even then I agree with the quality concern comment.

Top Speed 75+mph depending on the weight of the rider
