Relax. Wheelies don't just happen. Practice. Educate yourself. The more you learn before attempting to ride, the fewer times you'll dump it. And if 305 is not your area code, nor the date you lost your virginity, get it down to 250 before trusting your life to your own coordination.

MSF is definitely the way too go.. for sure but practice with your clutch on your street in first. just stand there and let out the clutch slowly to get a feel for when it will start to take off just walk with it. Then you can go from there.. thats the way i learned some practice on my own and the MSF course.. MSF for sure though great help. gets your confidence pretty high up.

hey :-) ..firstly let me say I am truly sorry if it came across that I was taking the mickey ..its just our sense of humour on here sometimes and it can appear insensitive at times ... so sorry for that ...
About the brake thing ... I am not sure how fast you are riding yet but if you are just doing very low speeds around car parks and up and down roads then the front brake in particualr can appear to be quite severe ..much more than it does at speed ..you are doing say 10 mph and grab the front brake ..the accompanying dive and almost instant stop can take you by surprise ..what you need to remember is that same pull on the brake at 50mph is not going to do the same thing since the bike has much more kinetic energy and is harder to stop ...
Whatever you do dont feel pressured or in a hurry to get good ..do the course and always ride at your own pace and not anyone else's ever!!
In normal circumstances braking is a progressive thing ..gradually applying them and increasing the pressure as necessary .. no amount of words here can make up for actual practising and getting the "feel" of all this yourself ...just take your time and NEVER be afraid to ask any of us anything ..ok??
Be safe!!
