NEW PC, I Need HELP.

RE: NEW PC, I Need HELP.
I hate to be a nay-sayer but not all grease is alike. Bad things happen when you buy cheap heatsync compound (it dissolves). Look at something like this: http://www.thermaltake.com/product/A...2150/a2150.asp
And if you want a kick *** case, with or without water cooling, look into something like this perhaps:
http://www.thermaltake.com/product/C...full_index.asp
I am not sure which one, but one of those will be my cases for my new PC this summer

RE: NEW PC, I Need HELP.
Didn't see it mentioned yet, but what OS are you going with?
Right now, 4G's of RAM can actually hinder performance. If you're gonna go with Vista, you're going to NEED no less than 2G's. Yes, you can run Vista on less, but then you're turning off eye candy and some of the features that make it a (apparently) superior OS to XP.
Food for thought...

RE: NEW PC, I Need HELP.
Not sure how stubborn people are on here about Mac's, but you can get a Mac Mini starting for $599.
1.66 Ghz Intel Core Duo
60GB Hardrive
DVD+/- DL/RW/R Superdrive
OSX 10.4 Tiger
iLife 2006
I have the $799 version (1.83 GHz Core Duo - 2GB RAM - 80GB Hardrive with 2 external 250GB hardrives), and it kicks my 3.5GHz PC in the *** with just about everything. (even games) You just have to get used to it. Give it a week, you'll never want to use Windows ever again. (Being I was a Windows user my whole life until a year ago. - I was just sick of the "send error report" message every 5 minutes.)
Unless you are a hardcore gamer, the Mac Mini is perfect. If you are the type of person willing to drop $600 on a graphics card, then maybe you should stick with a PC.
Just a suggestion on the Mac. People have no idea how great they are (and they usually bash them without even giving them an honest try).
