New members..."dumb" questions.
I have been noticing, especially in the bike specific threads, that new members are getting flamed before they even have a chance to get started here. Nine times out of ten, it is a question like, "What is the best exhaust", "What tires should I buy", "Should I get a Power Commander", etc. A common response is to beat the guy or gal up and mutter something about the search feature. Yes, these are pretty tiring questions, but there is no need to be abrasive to a new member that doesn't know about all this site's features, yet. The idea is to attract new members (as many as possible) AND KEEP THEM, for the good of our sponsors, the addition to our collective information wealth, and to meet new online friends. Please keep that in mind. I stayed here because the people were really cool and very informative when I started (still are), but if I would have gotten flamed during my first couple of posts, I would have dismissed this place as being a collection of a$$holes, and missed out on some quality folks. A little compassion goes a long way. Thanks everybody.

RE: New members...dumb questions.
For the record, I am not bashing on anybody in particular. I just wanted to mention it so everyone is conscious of making our new members feel welcome. After you get to know them better, then flame away [sm=icon_rock.gif]. It is probably easier not to post than waste your energy on a mean spirited response. If neccessary, you guys can always PM something mean to me...

RE: New members...dumb questions.
Is this a "no exceptions rule" or good judgement rule If someone says " just turned 16, got my first bike 08 1krr, and i need to learn how to wheelie it on the way home, how do i do it ? " do we still have to be nice
In all seriousness, good idea and post Voodoo.
