Shh... secret info here: I'm a technician for one of the largest cable companies in the US. They shall not be named though their corporate HQ can be seen from my apartment
Drop length and # of splits can effect internet speeds depending on the cable plant. Loose / poor fittings, however, actually is the biggest cause of speed issues. But you'd need at least a halfway decent tech to find a plant issue.

Jump on your bike and ride here and help me figure this out then!!! hahaha I'll pay for your gas, time and even a beer, if you want, lol

is it speed problems?
do a isp test for us :

Do you have a legit malware/spyware remover?
http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebyte...-10804572.html
If all else fails then do a system reboot (erase partition and reinstall) or call ISP provider and tell them to reset from their side.

I just did the speed test via wifi, my results were: download speed 6.72 Mb/s, and upload speed 0.49 Mb/s and a ping of 31 ms with the server being 100 miles away. I wasn't really sure if it was a speed problem, more if I was just overloading the router with too much accessing it.
It's just when I load to the next page, kinda like going between pages here, the loading just freezes up. I refresh the page and it will go, or if I hit the back button then hit the forward button, it goes. Not getting any server time out, just the loading is either really slow, or just stops.

I run Bit defender on the desktop, which was installed after it crashed. It was paid for and installed when we took it to the shop to be repaired. On the laptop I am running the free version of Avast antivirus. Should I run the malwarebytes anti malware along with the avast?

My laptop if fairly new, and I don't have much on it other than what was originally installed. Since I have been out of town, my laptop has been running very fast with now lagging or freezing up. Navigates the pages very quickly. Wondering if it may be a line issue at home, or maybe a modem or router issue.I'll call my ISP when I get back.
