Hey guys i am having trouble keeping my bike running after it sits for a few days. I first thought it was bad gas but it has done it with two different stations now. When i run the bike everyday it has no problems and it runs strong. The first time i let it set for a week. It fired up fine and i started down the road. About a quarter of a mile it bogged down like it wasn't getting any gas and shut off. It would turn over fine and try to start but nothing. We loaded it in the back of my truck and the next day i filled up the tank with new gas. It ran fine for the whole weekend. Then i let it set for 3 days and it started fine again. I made it about a mile down the road and the same thing happened. I could have it full throttle and the RPM's would just fall till it died. Does any one have any suggestions as i am tearing her apart this weekend?

Some things that i will most definitely check will be the carbs and fuel lines. Is it worth while checking the plugs too? Any help would be great.

It is a 2000 F4

 

Is there any fuel in the oil?
Air filter is clean?
Battery is fully charged? Connections clean and tight?
Clean fuel filter?
Try the new plugs.
It is an internal combustion engine...all it does is suck, squeeze, bang and blow. It needs air, fuel, and spark.

 

Tore it apart today.. Did some testing and it looks to be the fuel relay.. I had to order one so i will know my mid week if thats what it is.. When you turn the key it doesn't send any fuel. It also doesn't send any when you crank it. When you jump the fuel pump its fine. So hopefully the relay is going to be the fix.
