+1 on relaxing. You should doyour work (riding)with your legs and abdomen...arms shouldn't be worked hard at all.

ORIGINAL: fishfryer527

ill start doin some push ups and sit ups every night
I suggest morning and night every other day. And, do them in small sets with a short rest inbetween,8 rest8 rest ... until failure. You have two goals, strength and endurance in the muscle. You need more and better bloodflow but maybe not peak strength. You need a way to remove lactic acid as well as to deliver oxygen.
Hmm...I always alternate between upper and lower body in the gym but never skip my PU/SU...I certainly understand the logic but I never thought anything of it.

Someone in shape really isn't affected in any wayby pushups unless they are done as part of a superset/giantset or to just get a final pump for the ladiesat the end of the day. When done as a warm up on bench days, you have to be careful you don't fry your front delts before you flat/incline bench. If done everyday by a noob, the front delts may never heal fully therefore keeping the pecs and tris from ever getting fully abused.
