+1 to Texas Chain Saw (the original) and the Shining.
Whoever said Altered States is a scary movie needs to re-evaluate their movie knowledge.

I have heard the original version of The Grudge is much scarier than the US remake. The comercials for The Unborn freak the crap out of my wife. I still won't watch The Exorcist. Freaks me out to this day. I watched the strangers and found it to slow and a little lame. The concept is good, but the movie sucked.

Its prob my fav horror flick. But, The Hills have eyes is so jacked up its hard to say which I like better.

Actually Ebin mentioned it finally also, but i think 13 ghosts is actually pretty good, and creepy. I find most horror movies to be pretty lame.
