Navigating Pedestrian Crosswalks Without Clear Markings
Hai Community,
I have encountered situations where there are no marked lines indicating the presence of a pedestrian crosswalk, it can still be possible for a car to impede the crosswalk if it stops beyond the white stop line meant for cars. Even without painted markings, it is important to obey the stop line to ensure pedestrian safety and avoid obstructing the crosswalk1. If you encounter a similar situation, it is best to follow the instructions of the traffic enforcer and comply with their guidance.
Thank You.

Not sure where you are, I'm most familiar with CA's CVC since I lived there longest.
1. without marked crosswalk, there is implied crosswalk connecting edges of sidewalks on each side.
2. pedestrians only have right-of-way at intersections, they cannot cross mid-block
3. pedestrians only have right-of-way when light is in their favour at intersection.
4. as rider/driver who encountres pedestrian who doesn't have right-of-way (they jump off kerb mid-block), you only need to make "reasonable" effort to avoid them. Meaning you shouldn't drive onto sidewalk and kill family of 4 to avoid them. Or swerve into oncoming-traffic.
