Thank Mariah Carey for showing her 'vocal gymnastic' ability, now everybody does it. I miss Janis Joplin, that bitch had soul.

Agreed. Sing it as it's written. People aren't interested in how the number of flourishes and scales that can be added.

Oh yeah, if you can't handle the span from low note to high note, turn down the opportunity to make a fool of yourself.

I think people should be able to sing it how they hear it in their head. We are a very diverse society and everyones flavor (or flair if you will) should come through, to a certain extent, butsome of these singers/stars take it way to extreme. I look at it like Hollywood and the like are really way out of touch with America.

Also, if you're listening to the National Anthem - PLEASE REMOVE YOUR HATS! That is probably my biggest pet peave.
