Default My wife and my first ride together

So, last night I took my wife around for our first ride together. She was AWESOME! We just rode around the neighborhood for about thirty minutes. At one point we stopped in a cul de sac and I had her practice her slow turns (both directions), and she was stellar. Overall I would give her a "B+" for her efforts. She did three things that were universal and funny to me. She tried to put it on the kickstand when the stand was up, she kept honking instead of turning on/off her blinker, and one time she stopped at a stop sign in sixth gear (got mixed up with the gears) and had to walk it into first. My brothers and sisters, if you can get your significant other to ride, I highly recommend it. One of the things I love most about riding is the comradery (sp?), and that was just magnified when I was riding with my wife last night.

congrats man! I spent an hour last week trying to teach my girlfriend how to drive stick in my accord... that was pretty stressful so I can imagine letting her ride the bike was probably even moreso stressful. For the most part, I just want to get her loving it so she'll want to get one and we can ride around together.

Glad it is working out for you.

For me, i find that all the activities i get my wife into just get watered down. We got her a bike, and it is fun to ride with her, but nothing like riding with the guys. We got her golf clubs and can only play par 3 courses or half a regulation because she gets tired. I tried to get her into video games, but she only wants to play Dr. Mario.... just isnt the same.

Cool Voodoo!! Are you going to send her through a MSF course? Or she going to be self taught?

She's going through the course for sure; we just ran out of season. She got her permit, and I will try to teach the same MSF principles to her on the weekends (weather permitting). It sure is cool seeing her on that thing! This a picture of her with the gear she got from squid.com. It was really cheap because the outfit doesn't come with a helmet, jacket, or gloves. Actually, she's got all her gear but was just posing for the picture.

I got my girlfriend on a bike and she loves it, but she dropped it about 3 times, no damage the first 2 times but the third time she was next to me and she thought she had the kick stand down and fell onto my bike. I was so mad, that time she broke her mirror and her windscreen shattered when it hit my frame slider. She has a 1993 suzuki GSX-R 750 and it is so heavy, but she had to have a gixxer. We will be selling that this coming spring and get her a lighter newer bike.
