Nice looking acoustic's Voodoo. I want to learn how to play acoustic so bad. Any ideas where/how to start?
Yes...we all think we can get a guitar and "teach ourselves". Please do not fall into this category. It is very hard to train yourself...that takes ALOT of discipline, and most of us don't have the gumption. Get a guitar teacher...seek out your local music shop for advice so as not to get a hack that just started teaching. He will recommend a good starter guitar for you. I think, if you are serious, you need to spend about 200 bucks to get a decent acoustic...check out the pawn shops and maybe have your teacher come with you (Washburn is a good idea). If you only have twenty bucks to spend...get that guitar, but please take lessons. Guitar playing has made me a better person...have fun with it! Keep me posted!
Thanks for the info! I'm definately serious about it. My girlfriend has an acoustic (don't know what kind it is off hand) and she wants to learn how to play as well. $200 sounds good. I'd spend more if it meant that I'd be getting the best there is. I understand about the whole "self teaching". It's the same thing in golf. Many of my clients have taught themselves before they came to see me. The sad thing is, no matter how many times I teach them what to do/what not to do, some of the things that they taught themselves will stick with them forever. My weekend's going to be fairly busy, so, I'll probally stop in my local music shop first thing next week and talk to them about which acoustic to get as well as getting lessons. Thanks again Voodoo. I'll keep you UTD.

You don't also happen to have an Amp that goes all the way to 11 do you?

I **** you not...my amp goes up to 12. You see, Nigel can play at 11, but mine is one louder, isn't it?

But why not just make 10 louder? Then you don't need the 12...

:D

Voodoo - that shiney gold color reminds me of my old Marshall...

Tube went and I had no money.. I was a broke boy then (and dumb too cause I sold it for $80 - Marshall 150W).

I only now have my Peavy Bandit80W which, might I say, is an amazing budget amp. Great crunch, nice highs and mids, too. All around great amp!

Peavey has stepped up to the plate over the last several years. My first amp was a Peavey Backstage Plus. I have a Hotrod DeVille and a '59 Bassman reissue. Wonderful amps. I run a wah pedal, delay pedal, rotovibe, and a Tube Screamer...that's all a man needs! :)

Very very nice! I would love it if you could play your Mandolin for me! (actually that sounds really perverted) lol Hey man...Nice Mandolin you got there, mind if I touch it? Do you find yourself strumming your mandolin on those lonesome nights?

seriously though....you have a very nice collection.

Paul McCartneys new song Dance Tonight features him on the Mandolin, I love the sound.
