Yer I hear yu mate ... but at least you lived to tell the story ...that's is a bonus in my IMO..
I have dealt with quite a few low times in my life too , just like heaps of people here ..so I do know how you feel ... I have been depressed at levels that made me very close to suicidal ..
It some times help to remember that you are not alone ...
A few things that sent me mentally into the abyss ...that I do not keep secret ..
I managed to kill my best mate of 10 years when I totaled my 1000 Kawasaki with him on the back as pillion , at 21 years old ...
I went bankrupt to the tune of $300,000 at 35 and lost the our family home that I built all by myself at 24 ....
My first wife left me after 30 years and I had to do the single dad thing , bringing up my 2 boys by myself for 6 years ... so Loren , you have to just learn to move on , keep looking ahead and focus on what you can do in the future , not so much on the past and present mate ...
I used the internet back in 95 for about 7 years to keep me from taking a very long walk off a short pier ...lolol
The net can be a good life boat mate ...

I know you guys won't believe me - hard to imagine I realize. But at the end of my college career i'd been dating a girl for a while and she actually broke up with me!
Shocker I realize. How did this happen you ask? Well beats the hell out of me. But! it did actually happen. and I was a MESS. Outwardly I think I kept it together pretty well, but I was drinking more than I should and all around not feeling so hot about it. But it got better.
And I never would have met my current wench (an improvement I assure you).
So I guess my point is, don't pour yourself into a bottle, hit the gym with those girly arms of yours and maybe try to do some outdoor stuff.
Seasonal depression is a real thing, my buddy's ex got it pretty bad. maybe do some Google research.

Yer , Nate , it is amazing how true those old sayings that time cures near everything and that behind every dark cloud there is always a silver lining ....
The women thing is a great example!!! ... like you found out !
Same here too... my ex I still have dreams about , but those are only dreams ... and yep , like you said , if she hadn't gone and buggered off , I would not be here on the farm with Kerri ATM ... Kerri my misses is not only a great chick , but this time I found a really great friend in a partner that I can play , work and party with ... Spose yu have to go through the pain to reach the gain... Or chit , thats another old saying "no pain no gain" ...lolol
And yer , as you also said , weather driven depression is a diagnosable problem that bloody everyone suffers from at different times of the year ...
Loren , mate , you must be only a young bloke ?... so I recon you will find your way in good time like most of us ... as long as you have the strength and patients yourself, to let enough time go by ...
Geezus , om sounding like a bloody therapist now lol

It'll all get better man... We all go through rut's, and it sucks... I know the feeling though, I just got out of my own rut here recently. (GF of 3 years broke up with me, worst feeling ever.) For me though, music is my escape.
We're here though for ya man, anything you need just let us know.

Hey LJ, man I know life is rough, but you are young, you will bounce back. Take it one day at a time. My ex was a complete bi+ch, so I know what you are going through, and she used our son as a weapon, brought him in the middle and that made it very hard on me. Was discharged from the military also for medical reasons, not anything like you went through. THANKS FOR YOUR SERVICE AND SACRIFICE!!!! But, you made it through that so the rest can't be that bad.
Everything happens for a reason, to make you a stronger person. With everything I went through, I came out for the better. I met my current wife, and had a BEAUTIFUL little girl. I am content now. Like I said, take it one day at a time, and you will get through this.

LJ man, keep the spirits up. Living life is a series of positives and negatives kinda like
wading through a swamp in the low times and reaching the mountain tops in the
peak times and of course everything in between.
Take a time out and get out of dodge if ya need to clear your head a bit. Go see some
nice relatives/family or take a trip somewhere ...... usually helps put perspective on
things so you can deal with all the challenges "afresh".
Keep the faith brother it always gets better eventually.
