My Drawings...
Many times in the past, I have been to birthday parties for my friend`s kids. Most commonly, I am told not to bother bringing a gift, just come. This was difficult for my first year after my divorce.
Well, I decided that I am going to start giving kids sketchpads and some sort of art supplies (i.e. a drawing kit with a book on drawing, pencils or whatever). I also decided that I would personalize the gifts by placing a sketch on the first page for them. Today was the first day of applying this and here are the results.
First up is for the eldest son in the family who is maybe 6 years old:
The second image is for the eldest daughter (I do not know...maybe 8 years old):
Now the second image is not perfect, but it is a good representation of her. I was going to do a portrait of the son for his, but I did not have a good reference picture. So, I figured I will keep it boy centric and drew a picture of a 4x4 I found online. I did not really leave myself enough time to do a great job on it (1 hr 15 min before the party), but it came out good enough for the job.
My main reason to do this, is to inspire. My second reason is to give myself some much needed practice. It pretty much forces my hand. In my usually form, I found it easier to work on them after I popped in the Phantom of the Opera DVD into my computer (Yes, I know, I listen to *that* music)
EDIT: Funny, the things you write when you have a mindsplitting headache! I had so many corrections!

RE: My Drawings...
Oh wow. That is serious talent as stated. I wasnt born with that talent, but wanted it so I took Art Classes in high school. Your work is great, but your intent is even greater. I applaud you for what you are doing for our youth. Back to the drawing. Damn. It took me at least 10 hours of work to draw something like that, and still wasnt as good. You killed it. Keep going.
