How often, if ever, do you switch bikes? Pulled my F4i out Saturday since Yolie is in the shop for at least another week. And she felt like a stranger. The ride position on Ororo is completely different than the s1k. And while Ororo has legs, they're nowhere near as long as Yolie's.

So how often do you switch rides to stay current? Especially with 2 so dissimilar bikes?

I tend to be really random when it comes to what bike I want to rock. My two bikes are a bit more opposite than yours - F4i vs. drag-race setup ZX-10R.

Obviously on days when I'm going to the drag strip, the Kawasaki comes with. If I want to take a Saturday and go murder some corners, I take the F4i. But on normal ride days when I'm just going out with friends, it can vary. If I feel like being goofy and squirrelly, I'll take the F4i. If I want to listen to a deeper drone and feel some power, the Kawi.

In my case they are all pretty differently set up. One, while being street legal, is basically a track bike. Loud, obnoxious and not at all thrilled about idling at a red light. ;0 Another set up for 1/4 mile, until very recently was turbo'd and NOS'd but getting ready to turn that one over. And of course the trusty stead, 900rr, thats the perfect all around riding experience after 14 years of tweaking. It weighs in around that of a current 600 and puts out to the rear wheel about that of a modern 1K and with more money in suspension than its blue book value, rails around anything with the best of them all.

Other than that, I've always had 2 bikes at least, usually the flavor of the week and a lifer. But I as I've gotten older, not much 'new' blows me over anymore. I expect to be back to just 1 real soon. Only reason I may keep a second around would be as a backup or loaner....maybe.

Often times, it just boils down to which one has gas in it. ;-)

I'd find it redundant to have two such similar vehicles. I had thoughts of keeping my RC51 street-worthy, but realized I'd probably rarely ever ride her after buying the S1kRR and she'd do a lot better as a dedicated street bike. Once I have my 1980 CB650 on the road, I plan on using her as a commuter/rain bike. It's such a PITA having to clean the S1kRR every day/every other day.

Yeah, I decided to take the truck into work today. It's not because I mind riding in the wet, it's the cleaning I have to give her when I get home. :P

Outside of updating the rocket with a newer one, the only other bike I would ever own while having the CBR would be some sort of supermoto bike or sport touring. That way I could take advantage of the back roads around here. They're fun on a rocket but too dirty to be able to have a lot of fun so it's pointless to really bother with them. Hell even an enduro would do the trick but I like the looks of a supermoto a lot more.
