Default multi-purpose grease....

alright so i took apart my wheels and whatnot to have them coated....the service manual suggests i re-grease the dust seals before reinserting them....

i planned on doing it anyways because i wanted to wash off the old gunk before reinstalling everything....plus i have read that some people suggest using a light coating of grease over the axles before re-inserting...

i also will have to re-pack the bearings with grease seeing as they are only going to be blocked off, not removed during coating (and yes this can be done, just need to regrease the bearings)....

that all being said...what type of grease do you guys use...i don't have any and have never had to "grease" any parts per se....other than using oil on some fittings and stuff in the engine....

the service manual reccomends a multi-purpose grease (lithium based NLG #2 or equivalent)....from i can tell, they just mean any 'ol wateproof lithium grease of the NLG#2 consistency or the like....am i right??

you guys have any that use...i would prefer not to have to order as i found some aluminum-complex grease on ron ayers (NLG #2), etc....but it was $5.00 and.....$9.00 SHIPPING!!!!

sooo...looking for something i can pick up at the autozone or cheap online...any help?

thanks everyone...

IDK what mine is, but its a small blue can, like just smaller than a quart of paint. I think if you walk into any auto parts store you would have more than enough options to choose from. I know I removed and replaced the bearings on when I had mine PCed. And yeah, give that axel a nice little lubing, you know how to do that right? [8D]

I go with the valvoline synthetic from the autoparts store. comes in a peanut type can for like 4 bucks. Thats what i use. BTW if you dont already know use some latex gloves when applying cause that stuff is sooooooo hard to get off your hands.
