well i can get all the bolts that hold the cover on OFF, but from what i was told you need another tool to actually TAKE the stator off and from there oil will go everywhere since A. I've never changed oil in anything B. I have no idea where the plug is C. I dont have anything to put oil in D. I dont HAVE oil to fill it back up with E. well that's about it

It appears that it just goes where the other one came out and plugs in or something??

well, the oil drain is behind the headers underneath the bike forward of where the centerstand should be. i know you probably cant do it since you have no oil, nowhere to put it, or have no way to get stuff to do it. if i was in orlando i would be glad to help you, but im stuck in TX so, sorry. but i have to change my stator as well, so good luck and if you have any advice after, shoot it my way.

it appears really really easy but i dont like screwing with things i do not know...that's why i leave it to the pros or amateurs if they dont cost as much

its real simple to change.. for my 929 all i needed was alan wrenches. as far as getting the stator out of the cover its kind of a pain since the stator is a big magnet. other then that to keep the oil from leaking just lean your bike against the side of your house or somthing. just put a blanket over it so you dont scratch it.

if it is something i can do without making a big *** mess i wil do it myself as it seems quite simple....does the stator just POP into place or something? It appears so and does it just PLUG up or do i need to dig through oil to find this otehr end?

I REALLY REALLY REALLY HATE messing with stuff i dont know cuz it takes twice as long for someone to go and fix my mess

Take the side plastic off and lean the bike against something. I used tie-down straps from rafters to basically hang the bike sideways.

take out the allens holding the cover on. Getting the cover off can be tricky. There are 2 pins that will hold the cover on after removing the allens. Some taps on the side of the cover with a soft blow hammer can help. (or a piece of wood between the hammer and the cover)

With the cover off, the stator is held on by 3 or 4 allens. Take them out and the stator will lift right off the cover. There is also a metal cover that hold the wires out of the way and this too needs to be removed. Install the new stator in reverse of this.

Make sure to seal the cover with a new gasket or sealant.

Really not that hard. It is worth trying yourself.

With the bike leaning, there will not be much oil after you remove the cover. You don't have to dig through any.

Just allens hold the stator to the cover.
