Moving to Vegas

Moving to Vegas
Well found out today I'll be PCS'ing (Permanent Change of Station) to Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, NV at the end of September. It's going to be a long drive from North Carolina to Nevada but hopefully it'll be worth it. If anyone is around Vegas or in that general area advice would be great, never been to the West coast, so it'll be a new experience for me and my family!

Oh alright, how is SJ? Have a good time in Nellis, I have a buddy who is going there for some egress training in April. I never new anyone who has been stationed there, but I used to live in Henderson. You will have a good time as long as you stay away from the strip. Way to crowded and it does get old if you live there. Enjoy the drive you should get about a week or so of driving time.

RE: Moving to Vegas
I was stationed there for almost 4 years. It was a blast (I was single back then). The weather is great for motorcycles (except when you are at a stop), but there are some of the WORST DRIVERS I have ever seen over there. BE CAREFUL! Oh yea, drinking is a 24/7 thing out there, so always watch out for the drunks
It won't be long before you start avoiding the strip, I-15 and the "Spaghetti Bowl". There were some nice roads out and around Red Rock and Lake Mead, but they are probably all overpopulated by now. None-the-less, I am sure you will have fun out there!

RE: Moving to Vegas
i live in vegas in the winters.. i finally found out about a good biker group here and they meet up every monday
http://702sportbikes.com/viewforum.p...dc0a558cd89e25(last monday was the first time i went, there was maybe 20-30 bikes)
my ex's father was stationed at nellis - so i was always around the base... but like onarom said, we have the worst drivers (i'll raise my hand too because i do go over the speed limit in my truck sometimes)
actually the I-15 isnt so bad anymore. it's now 215 and decatur that is bottledneck (they are building an over-bridge) so getting to summerlin is a B****.besides that, the weather is awesome here - right now we are at about 70-80 degrees day and night, but you get to ride almost all year long (lowest it gets is MAYBE 35)
so are you going to live on base or are you renting/buying a house here? (my ex's family tried so fricken hard to get on base.. the list was out the door - he finally got promoted and was moved to ABQ,NM)
well hope to see you riding around town - maybe catch you at one of the group gatherings, everyone is really friendly.
