Motorcycles are safer than scooters...
At least that is what the insurance adjuster told me.
He said that a big problem is that when riding along on a scooter your feet are on a platform right in front of you. When taking a turn there is nothing to really help you stay in the saddle should something unexpected occur. He also said that a lot of scooter owners file a claim with under 250 miles.

Hate to bring you down but I took some leave and came back to ohio for a few days and my neighbor (hot chick from highschool with me) just got one! It look so gay and honestly if it wasnt her riding (without a helmet on, shorts and a t-shirt) I woulda never looked.

I can believe that. I have a couple of co-workers who just bought larger "scooters", yet they're 650cc. I asked them if they took the MSF course and they replied.......
"It's not a motorcycle, it's a scooter. It's easier and safer to drive so I don't need to. Plus I don't have to wear a helmet."
I then asked why they thought they didn't need helmets and their reply........
"You need one because you are on a race bike, scooters don't go that fast."
Shaking my head, I replied "So the lady running the red light because she wasn't paying attention will hit me over you because you are on a scooter, and that's why you don't need a helmet?"
That shut them up really quick, but honestly, people think that just because they're classified as a "scooter" they're "SO" much safer than motorcycles. But I don't buy the insurance adjusters BS about the feet position. It's because of the people who buy them don't know s**t about riding, therefore they crash and blame anything other than their incompetence.

Well put foxy. I didn't think of it from that perspective, but it makes perfect sense. It's just like how some riders (myself included) may not wear gear sometimes on local trips to the gas station or store. It's stupid and just laziness on my part. Accidents can happen anytime, anywhere, and to anybody.
