motorcycle technician salary?
Thinking about going back to school AGAIN to be a motorcycle technician. according to salary.com and some other sources im looking at like 28K a year. I mean is that for real? i mean thats gotta be tough to spend 20K on schooling (plus the 30K i have already) just to make 28K a year. is this accurate? any help would be great on this.
Even if that's accurate, that doesn't take into consideration what you can make on the side. Mechanics and computer techs like me are probably the 2 jobs with the most potential to make some extra bucks on the side.
I would say its probably accurate, maybejust little low. 10 Years ago, I spent $24k to get a $20k career. 10 yrs later, same job, but now I bring in $70k+ per year, and now I run the show and I am responsible for hiring in the new guys. I usually hire in people with only a degree and no real world expereince (electro mechanical techs) between $28-$30k, and everything said and done, OT, Holiday, on-call, weekly bonus, they usually bring in around $35-$40k 1st year on the job.
just seems crazy though. how do people raise of family on less then 30Ka year? i have a bachelors in business so this coupled with the tech. certification MIGHT bring me somewhere but how in the world could i take the chance. scary thought i guess.
I bet motorcycle techs get flat rate, so thats probably a representation of what they could make. It probably depends on how fast/good you are. thats just if its anything like the automotive field.
