In MI the permit (TIP) only lets you ride with someone over 18(i think) and lasts for 6 months

I think the person also has to have a valid motorcycle endorsement that he rides with. And the permit holder cannot ride past a certain time at night. in MI anyway.

In Pa, your supposed to ride with a licensed rider and are not allowed to ride after dusk or with a passenger.

yea, in MI you have to have a TIP & ride with someone who has the full endorsement. Personally, I've been riding 3 years now without endorsement at all, I got the TIP my first year but always just rode myself. Get pulled over and I'm screwed though, plan on getting the endorsement this summer, just don't wanna have to pay for the TIP again, then pay for the road test, then pay again for the full license.

Yes. Motorcycle permit holders are only authorized to operate a motorcycle between sunrise and sunset. No nighttime driving is permitted. Motorcycle permit holders cannot carry any passenger other than an instructor properly licensed to operate a motorcycle. Also, if you do not currently hold another Class of License (such as a Class C) than you can only operate a motorcycle under the instruction and immediate supervision of a licensed motorcycle operator.
Two minutes of research...
