Default Message for young riders

As an old sportbike rider, I remember long ago when I was young and friends with two old World War II fighter pilots. They had survived something that I would never know the horror of as a young man, and I still think about every time I ride. As I was kind of amazed that they were even still alive from what they had gone through, there was only 1 thing that I always remembered from our conversations. I remember the one guy, who was a fighter pilot, always told the other old guy who was a bomber pilot, that the bomber pilots weren't "Bold Enough". To this the Bomber pilot replied, "Well there are old pilots, and there are bold pilots, but there are very few old, bold, pilots." If this makes sense to any young sportbike riders out there well fine, if it doesn't then just take a minute and slow down and think again, there is always something up ahead of you that you can't anticipate, or visualize until it is too late. Here where I live there has been a significantly high number of deaths on bikes lately, about 4 in the last month or so. Since we are all riders we hate to see this happen to anyone, and we certainly can't be thinking about this all the time on our bikes. What we can do is try to be safer and not do stupid things like riding through busy intersections at 60mph or splitting lanes at 80. I don't want to rattle on about this, I just wanted to say something for those that it is too late for. I think that if the riders who are gone now could go back and ride safer they would, just to be able to ride again. Remember, you only get to ride stupid about 1 time.

Its like my father always told me before he passed away, "live by stupidity, die by stupidity"

For every action there is a reaction.

I will not live forever, but i will night die because of my stupidty or irresponsiblility. An old bike friend of my father once told me as a rider, "its you against the world, and no one will pull over for you."

To all riders, ride safe and always make your destination home, and not the grave

Moved from "fallen riders" which is only for honoring our fallen CBRF members.
