Default losing tread fast

ok, this is a pretty dumbass question im sure. but i've had my bike since this past april. when i bought it the bike had 4,660 miles on it. the tires were pretty damn good looking, a decent amount of tread. i've since put 2,500 miles on it and the tires are losing tread FAAAAAST! They are Pilot Roads. i dont understand how im losing tread so quickly. the cords arent showing yet, but in the center of the tire there isnt anything to put you're fingernail through, lol (between tread).

i DONT spin tires or anything like that. only thing i can think of is maybe in downshifting too early........at a high rpm and thats spinning the tire.....?

any input? i think in a couple months or maybe less if it keeps up the way it is....i'll be buying some Pilot Powers.

the more pressure you put on the rear tire(speeding up all the time) the less it lasts. Thats the only thing i can think of

What tire pressure are you running? Less tire pressure, more rubber on the road, shorter they'll last. That's the only reason I can think of.

i chew mine off every 4k or so, all depends how hard you ride, and if you ride in a straight line all the time your gonna wear the center fast.

I am lucky to get 1500 out of a set, so anything over 2K I consider bonus milage!
