The math works out as - f4i/1000f - Horsepower: 100 rwhp/115 rwhp. Weight: 370 lbs/518 lbs. Add another 300 for rider and 30 for fluids to both and you end up with power to weight ratios of .143/.137 horsepower per pound for the f4i/1000f. Giving the f4i a .006 rwhp per pound advantage, pretty much even.
Low end torque is where the displacement would be noticeable, 43 lbs/77 lbs. Using the same math the torque/weight numbers end up being f4i/1000f .061/.091 pounds of torque per pound giving the 1kf a decent torque advantage.
These numbers might vary some depending on model year and if you go with hp at the crank instead of at the rear wheel but the ratios wouldn't vary all that much. Main difference/equalizer between the two is easily the 148 extra pounds the 1kf has. If thats a bonus or not would likely depend on if you lean more towards a supersport or a sport-tourer riding style. Both of them will move a 300 pound rider around at a fast pace, with the 1kf feeling decently more torquey in the lower revs.
Couldn't really go wrong with either one really.

My better half has an accounting degree and is just finishing her masters in business so she does my taxes for me, I'm.. umm.. not to be trusted. My inner analyst only comes out when it's something I like, bikes, cars, electronics, firearms, etc. and the custom fabricating of the above. Sorry bro, you wouldn't want me doing your taxes, lol.
We have a funny relationship, she's more about planning out life, I'm more about enjoying it. We balance eachother out and keep each other honest. Works out pretty well.

Honest? I'd stay in the beater bikes till I was ready to upgrade to a liter (tho I don't plan to). The F4i you said was down the street and the one I pointed out won't kill you if anything happens to it (it happens, I dropped mine twice in 30 minutes). Plus gives you more cash to mod it. And if you still find a newer 600 too weak you won't have blown the wad, delaying your move to a bigger bike.
