So I'm getting married in 82 days and my fiance and I have had the easiest time with the whole wedding planning thing. The problems we are encountering are from everyone else. I mean it's my wedding...none of these people are paying for it...WTF???????

Me Me Me Me Me. I'm the women and its all about ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME.

You're right. Weddings are for the women. The man just happens to be there.

My wife and I talk about it and she now agrees that going to the Justice of the Peace and getting married for a hundie would have been better. She only wanted to get married in a church for her mum. Personally, I really didn't care for the day much, it goes by so fast you don't really enjoy it. I think my wife and I have watched our wedding video once since then and that was almost 10yrs ago.
Remember it is your day, tell everyone else to getstuffed. If they have an opinion on how it should be done, tell them to pay for it or shut up. Try to enjoy it and congrats.

I never understand the huge fuss folk want to make over these things...it's all just image these days...the money some of these things cost would be far better spent towards the marital home or just a perfect holiday...or better yet a BIKE!!!! ...lol

Marriage should be because two people love each other...not how much they or anyone else can spend...not about making yoursleves look good in front of others...do what you feel/want and to hell with anyone else...

Jules

PS Congratulations :-)

Aww the classic case of the butting in family and inlaws. Sounds like you guys need to stand up to everyone and let them know that this is going to be your day and it's going to be planed the way you guys want it no matter what. I know people just try to help, but it can get agervating real quick. I have never been married, but I had the same thing happen when I was setting up my new house-everyone wants to tell you how to set it up, but I'm the one that's living there and paying for it.

Good luck and and hang in there.

When the wife and I got hitched we lived in Maryland--so we scheduled the wedding in Vegas. Told the relatives "This is where it is, you're all invited but it is your problem getting there" Easiest wedding ever....

My second wedding anniversary is in June. The wife and I had a really big wedding. The first time I got married (at 19) it was at the Justice of the Peace, and her first time was in Vegas so we both wanted something to remember (because you only do it two or three times in a lifetime ). My mom was the biggest butter inner, and I was kind of in between making my mom happy and making Athena happy, but I always sided with Athena because it was HER/my wedding. It gets really awkward, though, and sometimes you feel like it has notjing to do with you. Hang in there, Pits. It will all be worth it. When you have all those people there, just to celebrate you and your new life...you feel like the most special person in the world that day. Pretty cool. Ihave some very fond lifetimememories from our wedding day.
