Let the Games Begin!!!
I should be able to get it to you Jinx since i am more on the east side of the state with you being in Santa Monica you may be the closest to the pacific.
Would it be a bad idea to schedule the relay with participants and locations so we will be ready?
I'm thinking that for the first annual, we keep it as simple as humanly possible. Next year (if it catches on) we can try to make it get there and back faster. and for that it wouldn;t be a bad idea to use Classics idea and schedule a meet/ swap. I was going to Engrave CBRforum on it somwhere, but i'm all for signing your name before you leave it somewhere.
I'm using the rear, and probably a pretty decent size chain or cable to lock it down so i would suggest bringing a backpack to carry it in. If someone steals it then that sucks.
try not to leave it on private property or somewhere where one might get into trouble for retrieving it.
like i said, i'm doing the first leg on Saturday and heading to the dutchess county area. if anyone on here knows that area, i'd suggest picking it up sunday and continueing.
I'd also add that as a general rule of thumb, do NOT keep it for more than 1 week. so if you ride far to get it on one saturday... make sure that by the next weekend you are leaving it somewhere.
and the whole point of this is to RIDE to new places, so no cages!!!

Heh, kinda a fun idea, if it passes through MN I'd help it along. One suggestion though, drop the treasure hunt aspect of it with the clues and whatnot and just turn it into a straight baton run. If it get's hidden and people have to use clues to try to find it I foresee that being a huge stumbling block toward the sprockets progress. The US is a big place to hide things and chances of it ending up somewhere noone on here knows is pretty likely.
p.s. In fact, planning it's route across the states in a thread or something on here and having people sign up for legs of it's trip would be pretty nifteh. Not only would that go along way towards moving the sprocket along, every member who participates would also have the oppurtunity to meet in person a couple of other members of this site.

I think if people used a sharpie to sign the thing along the way, that would be cool too. Post a pic of your sig and where you locked it up at......
I'm in for southern ohio, northern Ky or western west virginia........ I live and ride the whole area.....
