i got a 37" toshiba LCD in my bedroom and love it. but i also got a 61" DLP. For the money i would go DLP, also the durability of it is supposed to be much better and the picture quality is just as good as my LCD.

DLP, are quite a bit cheaper if you are going for a 50"+ plus model. The only issue is you have to replace a bulb after I think it's about every 2500 viewing hours. On the flip side though people say it is worth it because LCD and PLasma wont last as long.

The actual LCD part of a monitor will last a life time. Its usually a resistor or a circuit board that goes out. Heat is such a killer.

How much money do you have to spend? I bought a Mitsubishi Diamond 57" and it is fabulous. I hate this website.

I just bought this Samsung LNT5271F from Amazon a couple months ago. I love it. It's last years middle model (61, 71 and 81 Series for 2007). It has a brighter screen than the 61 series and has an incredible picture. If you order from Amazon and the price drops on Amazon within 30 days, just email them and they'll reimburse the difference.

I bought it at $2,299 back in April (but got a free upconverting DVD player, too). Since the 2008 models came out this one's price dropped to $1899.98. Back in January it was listed for $2,499. Plus they provide free in-house shipping.

How you are viewing the TV should be your deciding factor. If viewing straight on then DLP will be your choice...otherwise LCD.
